EMMA SHAPIRO

My name is Emma Shapiro and I am a West Coast girl with an East Coast work ethic. Originally from Palos Verdes, California, I recently earned my Bachelor's Degree in Theatre & Drama at Indiana University Bloomington and will soon be making the move to NYC!

 

While I can attribute my passion for collecting classic rock vinyl, analyzing astrological charts (I'm a Taurus BTW), and curating Spotify playlists and Pinterest boards to my California roots, my love for the stage and storytelling has followed me all around the world. It began when I landed my first lead as the comedic Baloo the Bear in my 5th grade production of The Jungle Book at South Shores Performing Arts Magnet. While all the other young actors were dressed in majestic, sparkly bird costumes, 10-year-old Emma was rocking a bulky gray bear onesie complete with a built-in bear belly, and I was loving every minute of it. That unforgettable experience set me on a path to discovering my knack for comedy and helped shape me into the dynamic and fearless storyteller I am today.

 

Though performing on stage will always be my first love, I’m just as excited by everything that brings theatre and entertainment to life. From directing and costume design to choreography, voice acting, and all the creative adventures in-between.

 

​When I’m not on stage, you’ll probably find me binge-watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, obsessing over Jim Morrison, or getting lost in makeup, costume design, and room decor. I also love cooking (I’m a total foodie), making jewelry for my small business @Gemzz.by.Em, and chasing sunsets.
